Jay's Autistic journey
Jay has come a long way from his diagnosis when he was 18 months old. As a family, we are blessed and grateful for the support we continue to receive along the way.
When our pediatrician referred Jay for assessment, it was an avalanche of bad news. As a family, we were shaken to the core, swinging between despair and disbelief.
01
UmMeed
Dr. Roopa Srinivasan and the Ummeed team not only helped us with Jay's diagnosis, they conducted workshops to train parents like us and get started on our journey and we continue with regular follow-ups to date to keep on track.
02
enliven therapy centre
Palak Parekh, our speech therapist made us realize that communication goes way beyond speech, extending to working on the thought process as well as alternative channels of communication.
03
reach therapy center for children
Chaula Badiani and her team at the Reach Therapy Center worked initially on Jay's fine and gross motor skills and is our sounding board in helping build independence.
04
aditya birla integrated school
Equally chance was an encounter where we came across un upcoming school. From day 1, The Aditya Birla Integrated School, under the leadership of Dr. Zirak Marker and wonderful team of teachers Ms Talia, Ms Charmy, Ms Eliza has been Jay's second home where he has been accepted for who he is and with all the care and support tries to become a better version of himself one day at a time. He has already completed Pratham Level-1 and has now moved on to the next phase of his academic journey. Jay has also gained a lot from the additional support from teachers like Ms. Michelle Fernandes.

Parent Community
As it is said, it takes a village to raise a child. Whether it was our neighbors, kids in the complex and our family friends who warmly accepted Jay with all his strengths and limitations. Furthermore, the parent community for neurodiverse kids, platforms like Forum for Autism , Action for Autism, Special Hangout or even the caretaker Didi's / Aunty's who doubled up as secondary therapists have played their role in where we are as a family today.
Begining
of
a
new
journey
When we started sharing Jay's work, the encouragement we received was unbelievable. They saw his work for its own artistic merit and made us take this 'hobby' seriously and look to reach a wider audience. Various organizations from the community like Ummeed, AFA, FFA, Special Hangout, Soch Autism Society Punjab , TABIS, Atypical Advantage, Creative Kids India and many more have provided him the platform to share his work. Jay also got multiple opportunities to share his work alongside the neurotypical community at well in various exhibitions over the last few years. We are also indebted for the incredible hardwork, creativity, asthetic discipline and patience shown by Sneha Shah (Founder) DiTAPS Webdesign Studio in helping us put this website together and have a more professional approach to spread awareness of Jay's work.
We are still in the early phase of a long journey, and surely it will not always be smooth sailing, but all the support system around gives us the confidence to keep moving forward.
